Farm attack averted, alert farmer and swift reaction, 1 arrested, Bronkhorstspruit

A farm attack was averted on 5 August 2020, at 21:20, in Bronkhorstspruit, on the Balmoral road, east of Pretoria, in the Gauteng province of South Africa. Attackers gained entry to an electrified property and attempted to lure the residents out of the farmhouse by making cat noises at the kitchen window.

The farmer pointed a firearm at the intruder and ordered him to sit down. The alarm was activated that resulted in a swift response from JVR protection services and local farmers who arrested the man. Tracks of at least another three to four attackers were found on the property and in the area where they fled by climbing on a tractor to jump over the electric fence.

There were no injuries. But at 05:44, reports came in of horses on the main road, in front of the property, that had been hit by two separate vehicles. The tracks at the scene were the same as those of the attackers from earlier. These tracks were followed to where the fence of the property had been cut and to the tractor where they fled.
