Farm attack, attacker opens fire on bakkie, farmers son wounded, Westonaria

A farm attack took place on Friday 8 July 2022, on a farm outside Westonaria in the Gauteng province of South Africa. The farm belongs to Jaco Taute who is also the chairman of the national stock theft prevention forum and a member of the safety committee of TLU SA.

Mr. Taute’s son Adriaan (20) was alone on the farm as Mr Taute, his wife and 16 year old daughter were away for the weekend.

Whilst Adriaan was driving through the open gate around 07:40 a shot was fired through the window of the bakkie which hit Adriaan in the arm.

Adriaan drove on and summoned help from other farmers but the attacker could not be found.

Adriaan was admitted to hospital but the doctor did not remove the bullet as it is lodged too close to the nerves.

The Police is investigating the incident but no arrest has been made.
