A farm attack took place on 10 February 2020, at 04:45 in Bronkhorstspruit, Gauteng province, South Africa. At least 4 attackers, gained access to a farm house by digging under the electric fence, and breaking into the garage. They broke open the door leading into the house, bringing a spade with them that was taken from the garage.

The suspects woke the farmer threatening to hit him with the spade, and raping his wife should they not cooperate. By that time the seven orphaned children living with them, were tied with cable ties the attackers brought with them.

The couple’s hands too we tied, and the attackers demanded money and the firearm in the safe. They fled with the cell phones, and the 9mm pistol and a small amount of cash that was acquired the previous day at an event.

Cell phones were thrown in the garden on their way out. They possibly left in a vehicle and only after the victims could free themselves, they managed to get help.

The 7 children, one toddler and 6 others as well as the couple are traumatized, but physically unharmed.

No arrests made yet, and no further information available.

Thank you to JVR Security (first on scene) and
SAPS Bronkhorstspruit who responded quickly.
