On 21 June 2018, Drift reaction reported that just after midnight the victim’s son returned home. He went to the kitchen to get his dinner when he heard a strange noise at one of the glass doors. He called out to his dad and asked him if he was at the door and his dad came downstairs to investigate. As he approached the door a shot was fired at him which thankfully missed!
The three armed suspects had already forced the lock and were inside within a matter of seconds. They fired a second shot which hit the ceiling. The father and son ran up the stairs. The son made it to his room where he locked the door but they caught up with his dad.
They forced him into the main bedroom where they also found his wife. They kept on asking for the safe, cash and firearms and started beating him on his head with the butt of the firearm. He sustained various cuts to his head during the savage assault.
One armed suspect stayed with the victim and his wife while the others looted the house.
The three fled with the usual electrical equipment. In an attempt to call for help, the victim then jumped from the first floor through the window and dislocated his elbow. His wife pressed the panic button and we were at the scene within minutes although the family is linked to another security company.
We notified the police as well as ER24 who transported the victim to hospital.
The victim will make a full recovery however the family was severely traumatised after the ordeal. We suspect one of the robbers had a revolver and the other one a pistol.
The one was described as extremely aggressive and they were all slender and tall. They were definitely from Zimbabwe as they spoke the dialect to the victims.
