GAUTENG — Authorities have confirmed a major Eldorado Park ammunition arrest following a targeted, intelligence-led operation designed to remove illegal munitions from the community. Acting on precise tip-offs, local law enforcement successfully intercepted a suspect and seized a large cache of unregistered bullets within the precinct.

According to an Eldorado Park police spokesperson, officers mobilized on Tuesday, 4 August 2026, after receiving actionable intelligence regarding a local man illegally stockpiling munitions. The information was immediately operationalized, leading tactical members directly to the suspect’s location to execute a lawful search.

During the sweep, the police spokesperson confirmed that investigators recovered a total of 72 live rounds. The seized cache consisted of a dangerous mix of calibers, specifically 40 rounds of 9mm ammunition, nine R5 rifle rounds, and 23 .22-calibre bullets. None of the munitions were legally registered to the occupant.

Following the discovery, the 27-year-old man was immediately taken into custody on the scene. The police spokesperson stated that the suspect is expected to appear before the Lenasia Magistrate’s Court shortly, where he will formally answer to charges of possession of unlicensed ammunition.
