At 14H51 Saturday afternoon Netcare 911 responded to reports of an explosion at a house on Dragon Street at the Klippoortje AH in Germiston.
Reports from the scene indicate that an elderly male sustained serious burns to his entire body when a LPG cylinder exploded in a residential house.
The patient was treated on scene by a Netcare 911 Emergency Care Practitioner and once stabilized was transported by ambulance in a critical condition to hospital for further treatment.
Fire and Rescue Services as well as the SAPS and provincial ambulance services were on scene.
Circumstances leading up to the gas cylinder exploding will be investigated by the SAPS.
