An elderly man was left critically injured yesterday morning following a shooting incident at a residence in Randfontein, west of Johannesburg.
ER24 paramedics received the emergency call at 07h10 and immediately responded.
Upon arrival, paramedics were lead into the bedroom of the home. An elderly man was found lying in his bed.
Paramedics assessed the man and found that he had sustained a gunshot wound to his head, leaving him in a critical condition.
Treatment and advanced life support interventions were immediately initiated, in an effort to stabilize his vital signs. Once treated, the man was airlifted by the ER24 Oneplan Medical Helicopter to Baragwanath Provincial Hospital for further treatment.
The exact details surrounding this incident are not yet known but local authorities were on the scene for further investigations.
