The local community newspaper, Vaalweekblad, reported that on 19 April 2017, an 87-year-old male victim was attacked and overpowered at his farm in Modderfontien, near Parys.
Several suspects accessed the house and assaulted the victim with a hammer, leaving him with cuts and a fractured skull.
The police are investigating the incident, and the suspects are still at large. At this stage, it is unclear what the suspects stole.
The man was transferred to hospital for treatment and is in a serious condition.
