At 13:34 on Sunday afternoon, 15 December 2019, Netcare 911 responded to reports of a shooting in Eden Glen, Johannesburg. Reports from the scene indicate that a 70 year old male sustained a gunshot wound to his upper torso. He was shot by house robbers whist he was video recording their evil deed across the road.
Medics assessed the patient and found him to be in a critical condition.
The patient required Advanced Life Support intervention and was treated on scene by Paramedics from Netcare 911 as well as Emer-G-Med.
Due to the nature of his injuries a Netcare 911 Helicopter Air Ambulance was activated to airlift the patient to a specialist facility for the care he required.
Circumstances leading up to the shooting will be investigated by the relevant authorities.
