A 46-year-old man was arrested on Friday for dealing and possession of dagga (cannabis) valued at R100,000, in Tshwane, police said.
Tshwane Metropolitan Police spokesman Senior Superintendent Isaac Mahamba said a man who was driving a grey double cab Navara was stopped at 9am by police at the corner of Eskia Mphahlele drive and Johannes Ramokhoase.
“He could not produce his drivers license, upon further inspection of the vehicle; the officers spotted 10 bags at the back of the vehicle and 2 bags in the front seat,” Mahamba said.
Police officers asked the driver what was in the bags. The driver, who was travelling alone, said the bags contained cattle food.
“They did a thorough check and discovered that the bags were full of dagga. The 46-year-old male driver from Soshanguve tried to bribe the officers and they refused his bribe,” Mahamba said.
The suspect was arrested for dealing and possession of dagga. He will also faces a charge of bribery when he appears in court next week.
