West Rand District Public Order Policing and Flying Squad members arrested 33-year-old male suspect following the discovery of Dagga laboratory at Randfontein on Saturday, 18 April 2020 at approximately 13:00.

The members were busy doing their routine crime prevention duties and ensuring compliance with the National Lockdown Regulations around West Rand area. While busy performing their duties, they followed up on an information received from the West Rand District Crime Intelligence that led them to the certain house in Aureus at Randfontein policing precinct, and discovered the Hydroponic Laboratory comprising of dagga plants and bags full of manure.

The 33-year-old male suspect was arrested and will appear in Randfontein Magistrate Court to answer on charges of Manufacturing, dealing and cultivation of dagga under Drugs and Drug Trafficking Act of 1992.

South African Police Service in the West Rand issued a stern warning that dealing in dagga is still illegal, they will act against anyone selling, cultivating dagga permit and dealing with dagga.
