How does DA voters feel about the DA in Tshwane saddling the taxpayer with a consultancy company called GladAfrica that will be paid 10 % of the infrastructure projects they advise on. Take note they don’t do any work, they only advise. That means they will get R1.2 billion of the R12 billion spent on infrastructure developments over 3 years.

To add insult to injury, GladAfrica even work from out Tshwane municipal offices, meaning they save on rent space. So, you get paid R1.2 Billion, but you do not have any expenses?

Some consultants charge up to R4 000 an hour, yet all use the resources in the municipal building, including telephones and internet, without paying.

GladAfrica was already paid R250 million, of the R1.2 Billion since November last year.

The facts are plain and simple. There is huge corruption under the DA, but the DA bleaters and supporters still somehow try to trivialize it as “not as bad as the ANC” or “nobody is perfect”. What a load of hogwash! We as ratepayers are subsidizing the extravagant lifestyles of these beneficiaries that got the contract. We also want answers now! We all work hard to make a living, why should our hard work go towards the opulent lifestyle of corrupt tenderpreneurs?

If you watched Carte Blanche last night, the same Mayor laments to pay R25 million to fix a sinkhole at a major intersection and main route in Jean Avenue Centurion, because it was not in the budget. But magically they found money and in the past year and they were more than willing to pay R250 million (of the R1.2 Billion) on fees to people who are sitting on their lazy asses? After 18 months, nothing was done on the sink hole.

It took a court order to force the council to start work on the project, but they immediately jumped to award a R1.2 Billion contract for consultants that benefits nobody. But a project to save businesses and jobs are neglected? The sinkhole blocked entrances to the shopping centers. As a result, the businesses closed down and numerous people lost their jobs due to companies losing up to 95% of their business, because the council dragged their feet fixing the sinkhole.

Now there is a class action of R100 million against the council. It emerged in court papers that the company that was awarded the contract to fix the sinkhole is a stationary supplier. Go figure that!! It would seem that illegal contracts and wasting taxpayers money money get preference to saving tax payer businesses and tax payer jobs.

Rate payers in Tshwane often hear the lame excuse from the DA that they inherited a bankrupt Tshwane from the ANC, but they have R1.2 Billion to splash out on “consultants”. This “consultants” term come straight from the same hymn page the ANC sing from.

DID WE NOT HEAR THE SAME WITH AUNTIE PAT?

Tshwane Mayor Solly Msimanga says that he’s expecting a preliminary report on Monday into a multi billion rand contract allegedly unlawfully awarded to engineering consultancy GladAfrica. History tells us a similar deal as with Patricia de Lille will be struck and nothing will come from it.

City manager Moeketsi Mosola has been accused of flouting regulations when awarding the R12 billion contract to the company. He has denied that any laws were disregarded. Sounds familiar?

Msimanga says that he takes the claims very seriously and is waiting for the report to see what steps should be taken. Sounds familiar?

“We’re not going to hide any wrong thing. If we find that there was a wrong thing, we’ll definitely be acting on that.” Well, mr Mayor, there is a huge difference between talking and actually taking action.

BIG ASPIRATIONS BUT NO SUBSTANCE

How can he fight corruption but he is not in control of the City where he is the mayor ? How does he not know about the GladAfrica deal and dodgy wifi tender in Tshwane?
Tshepiso Msimanga , Tshwane mayor, wants to be Gauteng Premier, but he does not know what is happening in his own city it seems .

Tshepiso Msimanga seems to have ceded all responsibility for running the City of Tshwane to his City Manager, Moeketsi Mosola, and that is what seems to have led to the GladAfrica scandal, with Msimanga now seeming to say he did not know what Mosola was up to.

It certainly does not paint a picture of a hands on mayor who knows what is going on in the City where he is supposed to be in charge. It sounds more like the typical denialism and obfuscation that the ANC specialize in. It seems that they read from the same handbook.

This is reminiscent of the water scandal in the Western Cape under De Lille, costing the rate payers Millions. Investigations where done and damning reports were compiled. But conversely, under a huge cloud shrouded with controversy and rife with speculation, nothing came from it. I suspect, the same will happen here.

It seems the DA/ANC/EFF eats from the same soup bowl. And that fate applies to any other multicultural party. The only solution is to vote Front Nasionaal for self determination and a responsible and accountable government.
