Multi-disciplinary crime combating operations in Johannesburg have resulted in the arrest of five suspects on Saturday, 16 May 2020, at about 10:00 in the morning. These operations form part of operations which are continuing in the province led by the Gauteng Provincial Commissioner Lieutenant General Elias Mawela.
The intelligence-driven information led the police to a building in Small Street where counterfeit goods and bags filled with counterfeit badges (thousands) were also confiscated, all worth more than R12 million and five suspects were arrested for possession and dealing in counterfeit goods.
All arrested suspects will appear in Johannesburg Magistrate’s Court soon.
Police are sending a stern warning to perpetrators that the SAPS continue with day to day operations even during the National lockdown period. Police visibility will still be intensified at hotspots to protect the vulnerable and the community in Gauteng.
