
The Phuma Silwe community in Tembisa is in mourning following a devastating shack fire that killed three young sisters over the weekend. Police have confirmed the arrest of the children’s 42-year-old mother on charges of child neglect.
According to authorities, the tragedy occurred while the mother was allegedly out drinking. The children were left unattended in the makeshift home when the fire broke out.
A police spokesperson stated that the mother remains in custody and that an investigation into the exact cause of the fire is ongoing. The names and ages of the children have not yet been released.
