On Wednesday, 04-01-2017 at about 16:00, a 56-year-old farm owner, was inspecting his farm in Houtpoort with his employees. When approaching an old mining hole on the farm, he noticed a young man carrying a plastic shopping bag in his hand, running away from the old mining hole.

The farm owner and his employees gave chase but the young man outran them. Whilst on the run, the suspect dropped the plastic shopping bag and disappeared into the bushes.

When the farm owner checked the contents of the plastic bag, he came across explosive detonators, hammers, torch, torch batteries, gloves and chisels

Heidelberg SAPS is appealing to members of the public to be on the look out and assist the police with any information that could lead to the possible arrest of the suspect, by contacting the police station or through the SAPS emergency number 10111.
