A security officer was left seriously injured on the evening of 17 February 2021, following a cash-in-transit heist on Albertina Sisulu Road in Georginia, Roodepoort.
ER24 paramedics arrived on the scene to find the cash-in-transit vehicle on the side of the road. Debris from the vehicle was spread across some distance on the road.
On closer inspection, medics found a security officer lying a few metres away from the vehicle. Assessments showed that the man had sustained a gunshot wound to his head, leaving him in a serious condition.
The man was treated and thereafter transported to a nearby hospital for further care.
Local authorities were on the scene for further investigations.
