Four men, arrested in Cosmo City, north of Johannesburg on Wednesday, 27 October 2021 and charged with armed robbery, are expected to make their first court appearance today in the Roodepoort Magistrate’s Court.
Last month, unknown men allegedly approached and accosted a G4S security guard after collecting money at the butchery whilst he was walking towards the armoured vehicle.
The suspects allegedly disarmed the security guard, pointed and assaulted him with a firearm then demanded the cash box with an undisclosed amount of money before fleeing the scene in a getaway vehicle.
On Wednesday, the Johannesburg based Hawks’ Serious Organised Crime Investigation team together with Honeydew police, swiftly responded to intelligence received regarding a suspected armed robbery at the same address.
Upon arrival the suspects aged between 28 and 47 were arrested.
Additional arrests cannot be ruled as the investigation continues.
