Police in Gauteng warns perpetrators of sexual crimes and other related offences that they would not escape the course of justice as accused suspects have been sentenced to 20 life terms and three-hundred and twenty-five (325) years between January and June this year.

Some of the youngsters have their sentences postponed between 2 to 5 years in terms of Children Justice Act.

The Family Violence, Child Protection Unit and Sexual offences Unit are also appealing to all victims, family members and the community to report any incidents of sexual violence in order that the perpetrators might face the full might of the law.

Forty-seven (47) cases sent to court on sexual crimes committed between 2014 up to this year resulted in all the accused being found guilty and punished for their crimes. Sixteen of the accused were sentenced to life terms. Other accused received sentences ranging from 10 to 25 years imprisonment and had their names placed on the register for sexual offenders.
