Tshwane Central police are warning homeowners to exercise extreme caution before engaging the services of unknown persons in their homes.

The warning follows two recent incidents in Sunnyside and Silverton respectively, where homeowners were allegedly robbed by suspects that they had employed as gardeners.

The properties taken during the robberies include a white Mazda Etude, cash, laptops and cellphones.
We are calling upon homeowners to exercise extreme caution and conduct background checks on such individuals to ensure that they do not fall victims to crime.

Among others, homeowners are urged to demand copies of identification documents, proof of address and contacts details of previous employers and relatives of the prospective service providers before making a decision to offer piece jobs in their residences.

Failure to take precautionary measure could result in unsuspecting residents hiring potential offenders and even fugitives of justice.

The police are investigating cases of house robbery for both incidents.
