On the morning of 21 November 2019, around 02:00, while on a routine patrol the operations manager of Waterkloof CPF (Community Policing Forum) noted a suspicious vehicle in the area. He approached the vehicle when the suspects suddenly sped off.

He noticed that this could be the electrical cable thieves that have been operating in Elardus Park and Waterkloof Ridge. He called for backup and units responded. A chase ensued toward the N1 highway.

Officers together with the CPF managed to stop the vehicle. Inside the vehicle we found cutting tools, breaking tools and car breaking tools. The suspect was detained while waiting for SAPS.

It was also confirmed that the same suspect had a warrant of arrest against his name. The Elardus Park patrol vehicle also confirmed that the same suspect was busy earlier in the Elardus Park area.

SAPS Sunnyside arrested the suspect and impounded the vehicle.
