A man arrested for possession of unlicensed firearm, was amongst the thirteen people arrested in the past two days. Police officers were on a crime prevention patrol in Sammy Marks Square, when they noticed a group of suspicious people. While in the process of approaching them two managed to flee.

One suspect aged 32, was apprehended, searched, an unlicensed firearm and ammunition was recovered.

Preliminary investigation indicate that the group were in the process of committing a business robbery. Investigation is ongoing, more suspects to be arrested soon. No bail was granted for the suspect.

In a separate crime prevention success, three suspects aged 34, 33 and 30 were arrested for theft out of motor vehicle.

Meanwhile other suspects were arrested for possession of suspected stolen goods, malicious damage to property, driving under the influence of alcohol, theft and possession of drugs.

All cases were remanded to next week for further investigation and bail application.
