Three suspect, aged between 35 to 45 years, were arrested on 28 June 2020, at about 09:00, after a business robbery that took place at a Motor spares outlet in Westonaria.

Seven males’ suspects, armed with handguns, had entered one of the motor spares business in Westonaria and demanded money from the owner. The suspects searched the premises and robbed the owner of an undisclosed amount of cash and fled the scene in their vehicle.

The swift response by the South African Police Service and EPR armed security, spotted the suspects driving off the scene, the police together with the security gave chase and cornered the three suspect at Middlevlei. The suspect were found in possession of two firearms and ammunition.

The three suspect was put under arrest and face a charge of business robbery. They were both detained at Westonaria police station. The three firearms will be taken in for ballistic testing. The other four suspects are still at large. The three suspects will appear soon in Westonaria Magistrate court soon.

The District Commissioner, Major General PF Kekana welcome the arrest and applauded the swift response by the Westonaria South African Police Service and EPR security members who made sure that criminals are not welcomed in the West Rand District.

He further appeal to the community to assist with information which can lead to the arrest of the four outstanding suspects and to continue reporting crime and work together with the police in the fight against crime. Information can be reported at Crime Stop on 08600 10111.
