The police have arrested eight suspects for possession of stolen property and possession of unlicensed firearms.

On 23 October 2022, the Soweto Crime Intelligence together Soweto K9 unit members operationalised information about suspects planning to commit a business robbery.

The seven suspects were successfully intercepted at a house in Protea Glen and various cellphones, plasma televisions and amplifiers were confiscated.

The seven suspects were arrested for possession of suspected stolen property.

During preliminary investigations, the suspects were linked to three more cases of business robbery and attempted murder opened in Ennerdale.

The suspects further led the police to another place where they reportedly keep firearms used to commit crime. One man was found at that said place and three unlicensed firearms and ammunition were also seized.

The suspect was arrested for possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition.

All eight suspects are expected to appear before a magistrates’ Court soon.
