Boksburg cash in transit heist, 5 arrested, more suspects sought

The Directorate for Priority Crime investigation in collaboration with the South African Police Service have launched a serious manhunt to apprehend the outstanding dangerous suspects involved in the daring cash in transit heist incident that happened in Boksburg on Thursday 17 May 2018.

Contrary to wide reports doing the rounds, there is no police officer amongst the arrested suspects. The unknown number of suspects are now subject to a manhunt.

The five are expected to appear at the Boksburg Magistrate Court on Monday to face charges related to armed robbery with aggravating circumstances, attempted murder and possession of prohibited firearms and ammunition.

Meanwhile, two suspects aged 26 and 30 are expected to appear at the Pretoria Magistrates Court today for at least five cash in transit cases, two in Mpumalanga and three in Gauteng.

In one of the incident a police officer was shot and killed. The two were arrested by the Gauteng Hawks’ National Bureau of Illegal Firearms Control and Priority Violent Crimes Unit on Thursday in Soshanguve. They are expected to be charged with murder, attempted murder, armed robbery, possession of unlicensed firearms and explosives.
