A 43 year old man is expected to appear before the Boksburg Magistrate’s Court on 3 April 2019, for alleged illegal possession of rhino horns.

The suspect was arrested on Monday 1 April 2019, on the R21 towards the OR International Airport by the Ekurhuleni Tactical Response Team and Benoni Flying Squad in possession of two rhino horns with an approximate value of R1.8 million.

The police also seized a vehicle that was being used by the suspect.

He will be charged with possession of rhino horns and contravention of Section 57 of the National Environmental Management Biodiversity (Nemba) Act 57 of 2009.
