The case against four of the eight suspects arrested in connection with the disappearance of journalist Sibusiso Ndlovu and Zodwa Mdhluli has been postponed to May 27 for a formal bail application.

The two journalists were last seen in Mamelodi East, Pretoria, in February, sparking widespread concern and an intensive police investigation.

Court Proceedings and Legal Aid

During today’s hearing, Accused 1 and 2 had their bail application postponed, while Accused 3 (Sello Uoane) and 4 (Thato Madisha) were granted legal aid. The remaining four suspects’ cases are expected to proceed separately.

Deputy Minister Calls for Expedited Investigation

The Deputy Minister in the Presidency expressed satisfaction with the progress of the investigation but urged authorities to speed up forensic analysis, particularly blood samples, to bring closure to the grieving families.

“Our hearts are heavy. Zodwa and Sibusiso were dutiful citizens who had so much to offer society, and we are deeply certain their lives were cut short this way,” the Deputy Minister said.

He assured the public that the government remains in close contact with police to monitor developments, expressing confidence in the judiciary to deliver justice “without fear, favor, or prejudice.”

Ongoing Investigation

Authorities continue to piece together the circumstances leading to the journalists’ disappearance. The case has drawn significant public attention, with calls for accountability and justice.

Further updates are expected after the May 27 bail hearing.
