Thokoza Police made a breakthrough by arresting three suspects on 26 June 2019, who are aged between 29 and 46 for fraud. These three suspects were caught red-handed while committing criminal offence through the video clip that was taken when they were robbing a 52 year old man who was withdrawing his money at Engen garage.
It is alleged that the suspect who act as if they are withdrawing money, then they would act as if they are assisting you after they have tempered with the ATM. They would let you withdraw money while they are watching you when you type your PIN code over your shoulder, after you have done your withdrawals they would put their own fraudulent cards to withdraw your money using your PIN code.
The suspect would then go to their white Ford Figo sedan car to change their clothing so that it won’t be easy to identify them when the next victim comes. Today their day was cut short after they were being monitored for quite some time when two undercover Police officers were posted at their hunting ground and they were caught with various bank cards as well as large amount of money estimated to be R15 000-00.
Suspects are arrested and detained at Thokoza SAPS and charged with fraud and charges might be added when the investigation continues.
Suspects are expected to appear at Palm Ridge Magistrate Court soon.
