Armed house robbery and shooting at a complex in Ruimsig, Roodepoort. During the early hours of this morning the guards heard a loud bang, a window breaking followed by a female screaming for help.
One of the guards went to investigate and ran in the direction of the screaming when he noticed two dark clothed suspects jumping over the perimeter wall.
He pressed the panic and three Tactical Units were dispatched – two guards proceeded to close the area off and one to check on the situation. He met up with the residents who reported that the sliding door was closed and locked while he and his wife was watching TV in their unit on the first floor.
He noticed two figures outside the door and they pointed him with a firearm and told him to open the sliding door which he did. They quickly went into the unit and only took his cell phone.
According to the resident one suspect fired a shot through the sliding door on their way out. Why, we don’t know and we searched everywhere but could not find a spent cartridge.
The suspects disappeared into the veld. Police were on the scene and an investigation continues.
