An elderly man was killed and an elderly woman left critical following an apparent hijacking at the Main and Ash Road Intersection in Witpoort.
ER24 paramedics were dispatched to the call, arriving on the scene with local authorities and several other services. On scene, medics found a man and a woman, both believed to be in their 50s, lying inside a light motor vehicle.
Medics extricated the patients and assessed them, finding that they had sustained numerous gunshot wounds and were in a critical condition. Treatment and advanced life support interventions were immediately initiated, in an effort to stabilise the patient’s vital signs.
The woman was transported by ambulance to a nearby hospital while a private medical helicopter was called to airlift the male patient.
Unfortunately, the man succumbed to his injuries. Nothing could be done for him and he was declared dead.
The details surrounding this incident are not yet known but local authorities were on the scene for further investigations.
