Police arrested a 24 year old male for possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition at corner Mikkel and Nugget Street on 4 November 2019 at 13:00.

Police were busy with their routine crime prevention duties when they saw a suspicious male carrying a bag and they searched him. They recovered an unlicensed firearm with live rounds. Suspect failed to produce a license to possess a firearm.

The firearm will be sent to ballistic testing to ascertain if it was used in the commission of serious and violent crimes. Investigation is under way and suspect will appear soon in the Johannesburg Magistrate Court.

Johannesburg District Commander, Major General Masha commended members for removing a firearm from wrongful hands. These are firearms that are used to commit crime and even kill people.
