A 66-year-old man was shot dead by robbers in Meredale home on Wednesday, paramedics said.
“Paramedics were dispatched to a call just after 3 am for an apparent house robbery in Meredale. It is believed that the man was trying to defend his family when he was shot,” said ER24 spokeswoman Chitra Bodasing.
“Paramedics found him in a room with injuries to the head. Sadly, there was nothing that could be done for him and he was declared dead.”
The rest of the family, who included three young children, were unharmed. Police were investigating the shooting.
