Quick response to information given to Ekurhuleni Central Tactical Team on 26 December 2017, at about 21:00, led to the arrest of five suspects and recovery of four unlicensed firearms and ammunition at Kingsway in Benoni.

The police received information about a planned business robbery at one of the businesses at Kingsway. The police reacted swiftly and kept observations and spotted a suspicious vehicle with five occupants inside. After the suspects noticed that the police were monitoring them, they tried to drive away and police gave chase until they were arrested at Nellmapius off ramp, at R21 freeway to Pretoria.

When the police searched the vehicle, they found four unlicensed firearms and ammunition.

All suspects were arrested for conspiracy to commit business robbery, possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition including reckless and negligent driving.

The vehicle that the suspects were using was confiscated. The suspects will appear at Benoni Magistrate’s Court soon.
