At approximately 17H10 on Sunday 02 July 2017, Netcare 911 paramedics responded to reports that three children had been run down in Saint Amant street in Malvern.
Reports from the scene allege that the driver lost control of his vehicle and it left the road and collided with the three children.
Netcare 911 attended to the most seriously injured. She was 9 years old and had sustained very serious injuries. She was attended to by an Advanced Life Support paramedic and analgesic medication was required to control her pain. A 6 year old girl was attended to by another ambulance service, she was in a stable condition and had sustained moderate injuries.
Both were stabilised at the scene before being transported to hospital for further urgent care.
Tragically, a third girl, believed to be approximately 6 years old, succumbed to her severe injuries and died at the scene. The driver of the vehicle was detained by the SAPS at the scene.
The local Fire Department also attended the incident.
