2 Business robbery suspects shot after crash, hijacked vehicle recovered

Members received information of a business robbery that occurred in The Barrage area, a lookout was given of 4 suspects that were using a black Nissan NP200.

It is alleged that members of Sedibeng District Task Team responded and picked up a similar vehicle driven by two males on the R553. As members made a U-turn the same vehicle started to speed off, a short chase occurred until the suspects lost control of their vehicle and crashed into a shack.

Two suspects alighted from the vehicle and pointed members with firearms, members reacted to this thread and both suspects sustained injuries due to gunshot wounds and were arrested.

Property that was taken in the business robbery was also discovered in the Nissan NP200 driven by the suspects.

The vehicle was tested with the VIN number and came out as hijacked with Jeppe Cas number.

Suspects were arrested for Business robbery, pointing of firearm, possession of suspended stolen property and possession of hijacked motor vehicle.

Major General Zodwa Ettie Molefe applauded members involved from various SAPS units, stations, Security companies, CPF and community members for all the assistance to ensure that suspects are brought to book.
