Two suspects both aged 25 years were arrested by the member of Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences with the assistance of Khutsong SAPS Sector members on the 28 February 2021 at Khutsong South.

The arrest came after a 25-year-old female was cornered by two males on the 27 February 2021, at about 21:15, while she was walking from her elder sister’s place at Khutsong South passing the football field when one of the suspect approached her and told her they had been looking for her.

The two suspects dragged her into the open field and they both raped her while threatening her with a knife. The victim fought back and grabbed the knife, unfortunately it wounded both her hands. After raping her the suspects left the scene on foot. Police were summoned and the victim was taken for medical attention.

The two suspects appeared in Khutsong Magistrate Court on the charges of rape and Assault with intent to grievous bodily harm.

Rape case reported in Khutsong still a concern and we urge all women and young women to stay away from open spaces with long grasses or dark areas, not to walk alone in dark areas or during the night when from drinking places or their homes.

The police management welcomed the arrests and applauded the swift response by members that leaded to the arrest of the two suspects. She continue to urge men and young men to take responsibility and fight against the abuse of women and children and gender based violence those who are against the will of the law will be brought to books and face the full might of the law.
