An 18-year old man was arrested yesterday morning for alleged assault and rape which occurred in Meyerton next to Sicelo open field.
The suspect allegedly assaulted his 19-year old friend on the head with a knife and allegedly raped her.
The young woman and the suspect were from a shebeen in the early hours of the morning walking home after spending a night together at a shebeen. On their way back, the suspect wanted to have sex with the woman and she refused. That was when the suspect allegedly pulled out a knife, stabbed and raped her. He allegedly left her at the open field.
The young woman was taken for medical attention and the suspect detained at Meyerton Police Station. He will appear in the Meyerton Magistrate’s Court soon.
