SAPS Gauteng Provincial Commissioner commends detective duo for leading quality investigation and putting another serial rapist behind bars
Addressing the proliferation of crimes against women, children and vulnerable persons remain a top priority for the South African Police Service.

It is on this basis that Gauteng Provincial Commissioner, Lieutenant General Elias Mawela welcomed the hefty sentence handed down on convicted serial rapist Johannes Nokeri on Friday, 14 January 2022 in the Temba Regional Court.

Sterling investigation by Sergeant Molwantoa Rapakgadi of Gauteng Serial and Electronic Crime Investigations (SECI) unit resulted in Nokeri being sentenced to five life terms and an additional 191-years imprisonment.

Nokeri faced 18 counts of rape, 23 counts of robbery with aggravating circumstances, theft of a motor vehicle and unlawful possession of a firearm and ammunition.

Rapakgadi was assisted by Sergeant Refilwe Tladi, both from SECI, a specialised investigation unit within the Gauteng Provincial Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences (FCS) unit.

“Quality investigation, commitment and passion by members of the South African Police Service such as Sergeant Rapakgadi and Sergeant Tladi will restore trust and confidence within the communities of Gauteng in SAPS”, said Lieutenant General Elias Mawela.
