A 28-year-old South African Police Service, was sentenced to 15 years imprisonment for tampering with and damage to essential infrastructure in the Johannesburg Magistrate Court. He was also declared unfit to possess a firearm.

The accused and three of his accomplices cut the overhead cable of the railway line at Selby on the 12 January 2020 at 17:30.
