13 Wanted rapists and 8 murderers among 746 arrests, Gauteng

746 Wanted suspects were successfully traced and arrested in Gauteng, 13 of them wanted for rape and 8 for murder. Gauteng Premier David Makhura, Mogale City Executive Mayor, Cllr Lipudi, and Member of Mayoral Committee of Public Safety, Cllr Resha joined the Provincial Commissioner, Lieutenant General Elias Mawela in leading the operations in the West Rand where 97 undocumented foreign nationals were taken in for processing; 9 suspects arrested for possession of drugs; and 4 for illegal mining.

Police also confiscated live ammunition for different rifles and pistols, as well as explosives. Equipment believed to be used for illegal mining was also confiscated.

Counterfeit goods whose value is yet to be determined, were confiscated from a China Mall near the Ellis Park precinct in Johannesburg.

In Tshwane, police confiscated an illegal loaded pistol and a magazine; R7000 worth of illegal cigarettes and expired foods in Lyttelton; and also closed down 4 illegal liquor outlets; and issued AARTO fines to the value of R42150.

In Ekurhuleni, a suspect was arrested at a roadblock for driving under the influence of alcohol and for attempting to bribe a law enforcement officer.

Fines worth R16 600 were issued while 05 fines were issued for contravention of the Second Goods Act.
