Game catcher badly injured in violent farm attack

A game catcher and his girlfriend were viciously attacked on Saturday morning 31st of October 2015. They were attacked in broad daylight at a lodge in the Beestekraal area in Northwest.

Eddie Kritzinger (44) and Audrey van der Merwe (50) were attacked about 10:00 at their home while she was busy hanging the laundry and Eddie went to switch on a borehole pump.

Hennie Klopper, owner of the lodge said Eddie was scarred very badly. He had to get stitches on his head and his body was covered with raw wounds because the attackers dragged him around on the cement. “He tried to fight back, but the three were too much for him. They hurt him very badly.”

According to Klopper there is great concern in the community about the amount of vagrants in the area.

During the Easter weekend criminals cut the wires and crawled through to get access to the lodge. Several guest’s belongings including mobile phones, cameras and laptops were stolen.

“We are defenseless and powerless. Someone recently broke into our neighbors, where the robbers got away with guns. “Klopper said they receive good cooperation from the police and he hopes that the suspects will be apprehended soon.

“It is very stressful with so many attacks in your area. You wonder when will it be your turn.” According to Klopper the lodge was his big dream to have a place of his own in the nature. “I don’t know whether it is worth it anymore. I’m thinking that it would be better to emigrate.”
