One suspect was arrested in possession of five suspected stolen cellphone network tower sim containers in Zamdela.

On Wednesday 8 June 2022, at about 00:30, members of Zamdela SAPS received a complaint that there are people tampering with cellphone towers in Phase 5, Zamdela.

Upon arrival at the scene, the members managed to arrest one suspect aged 38 years old. Four other suspects managed to flee the scene.

Five sim containers stolen inside the cellphone towers were recovered.

The 38-year-old will appear in Sasolburg Magistrates Court soon, facing charges of possession of suspected stolen property and tampering with essential infrastructure.

The Fezile Dabi District Commissioner, Major General Moses Makubo lauded the members for their quick response and arrest effected.

“Malicious damage to essential infrastructure is an offense and the perpetrators of such acts should be brought to book,” concluded Maj Gen Makubo.
