Woman grabs firearm from safe and shoots at farm attackers

On Sunday, December 3, 2017, Gerrie Labuschagne, his wife Annetjie, their daughter and grandchild were attacked upon their return home from Church on their property situated in the Nala Municipality.

The three suspects hit Gerrie with a metal rod while in the garage, leaving him unconscious. The suspects then forced Annetjie to open the safe, and she immediately grabbed the handgun and fired at them. One suspect was wounded and fled with the other two.

The community security and police responded to the incident, and one of the suspects was detained during a search.

Gerrie was transferred to a hospital and treated for head wounds.
