The elderly woman raped and stabbed to death in a retirement home in Paul Roux has been identified as Gertjie Booyse (78). This barbaric attack took place at the Skemervreugde retirement home in Paul Roux, Free State on Tuesday morning 12 July 2021.
A single black male attacker tried to get into several flats of elderly residents before succeeding to enter the flat of Gertjie Booyse.
The 31 year old black male attacker attacked the frail Mrs Booyse in bed and overpowered and raped her.
Mrs Booyse was so seriously stabbed with a knife and tortured through brutal violence that she died in the Dihlabeng hospital in Bethlehem on Wednesday evening 14 July 2021.
When the attacker fled on Tuesday morning somebody saw him and followed him. He was eventually arrested by Police. The suspect will appear in court on charges of murder and rape on Friday 16 July 2021.
