A young man and a pensioner from Boiketlo Village in Qwaqwa arrested for allegedly selling drugs and trying to bribe police officers.

On Sunday, 13 November 2022, the Welkom Public Order Police Unit arrested two suspects in Phuthaditjhaba and Boiketlo Village for allegedly dealing in drugs (nyaope) in two separate incidents.

A 24-year-old man was arrested near in Phuthaditjhaba with 96 small plastic bags of drugs (nyaope).

A 74-year-old woman was arrested at Boiketlo Village where it was suspected that drugs were being sold frequently.

During a search of her home, police discovered stacks of cash and drugs.

The elderly woman attempted to bribe the officers. She was arrested immediately and is expected to appear before the Phuthaditjhaba Magistrate Court on Tuesday, 15 November 2022 on charges of dealing in drugs and bribery.

The 24-year-old suspect will also appear in the same court on a charge of dealing in drugs.
