On 24 May 2023 at about 17:30, an 18-year-old high school learner was waiting for a taxi near CTM near the tuckshop in Koppie Alleen Road Welkom, when reportedly, a light blue Toyota Tazz stopped next to her and the driver asked her destination. She responded that she was going to the four-way stop between Rastas and Mphatlalatsane in Thabong. She got inside the vehicle as she also noticed an older female in the front passenger seat.
He drove towards Kingdom Academy direction and after passing the Shell garage, the passenger in the front sear insisted to alight from the vehicle while the high school learner remained in the vehicle.
The taxi driver then proceeded to drive and reportedly stopped at an open veld beside the road. He covered the victim with a black cloth over her face and raped her. After the ordeal, the victim was dropped off in Muizen Street Welkom CBD.
The suspect has an old scar on his right cheek, has medium to thin dreadlocks, brown in complexion, speaks Sesotho and was wearing a yellow tracksuit top, black Chino pants with white All Star sneakers. He drives a light blue Toyota Tazz.
