The 32-year-old Sojol Khan appeared in the Bloemfontein Magistrate court on Monday 18 May 2020 for conspiracy to commit murder following his arrest on Saturday 16 May 2020, and was released on R1000-00 bail. He will appear again on 2 July 2020.

It is alleged that the suspect solicited to murder the female landlord and her son where he had placed a tuck shop container in Phase 6 Mangaung. The suspect had already paid R6000-00 of the R12000-00 for the killing of the son, after he was made to believe that the deed had been completed.

He thereafter allegedly ordered that the mother should also be killed with the same amount. The police were informed and a crime intelligence led operation was launched and observation kept on the suspect until he was arrested on Saturday.

Following his release, the community went on a rampage and burnt his tuck shop. One person was arrested for possession of firearm after he allegedly fired a gun in an attempt to disperse the crowd. He will appear in court soon.

“The act of people resorting to vigilantism will not be tolerated. We request the community to understand and respect court proceedings, thereby allowing the law to take its course”, said Lieutenant General Baile Motswenyane.
