The Villiers Highway Patrol arrested two men, aged 38 and 39, for possession of copper cable in Villiers.

On Thursday, 18 January 2024 at about 06:30, members received information regarding two men who were burning copper cables at the Villiers dumping site.

Members rushed to the suspected dumping site and upon arrival, they found two men with copper cable wires. The suspects attempted to flee the scene on foot, but members chased them and they were apprehended.

Copper cable weighing 194, 2 kg with a street value of about R25 000 was recovered. The suspects were arrested and are being detained at Villiers SAPS.

Suspects will make their first court appearance on Monday, 22 January 2024 at Villiers Magistrate’s Court.
