FREE STATE – Two suspects aged 36 will appear at Odendaalsrus Magistrate Court on Monday 26 July 2021 on charges of possession of suspected stolen copper cable, Criminal Matters Amendment Act as well as being in the country illegally.

On the 24 July 2021 at about 13:00, Odendaalsrus Visible Policing members were busy with an operation in Block 2 Kutloanong, when they noticed a suspicious Toyota Corolla in the proximity of a scrap dealer.

The vehicle with two occupants was approached and searched.

A copper cable weighing 314 kg with the street value of R30 000-00 was found inside the vehicle. The two men were arrested after they failed to provide necessary documentation for possession thereof.

“This arrest will serve as a deterrent as people need to understand that destroying essential infrastructure in a quest to make easy money is detrimental to the normal functioning of the community”, said Lieutenant General Baile Motswenyane.
