Two men, aged 30 and 36, were arrested for drug possession during a multi-agency roadblock on Friday, 12 December 2025.
The operation, conducted at approximately 08:00 in the Marabastad section, involved SAPS, Traffic officials, the Community Policing Forum, and the Youth Desk.
Officers stopped a taxi for searching. An undocumented male passenger was found with a box of noodles containing a hidden black plastic bag of suspected mandrax.
Police took the man to his residence, where a second male was found. A search of the premises uncovered 16 additional suspected drug tablets and an undisclosed amount of cash.
Suspected drugs with an estimated street value of R20,000 and the cash were confiscated.
Both suspects were arrested and are charged with possession of drugs and contravention of the Immigration Act. They will appear in the Kroonstad Magistrate Court on Monday, 15 December 2025.
