Two men, aged 25 and 41, are expected to appear in the Koppies Magistrate’s Court following their arrest for the possession of a suspected stolen vehicle on the N1 highway Friday night.
The arrest stems from a lookout alert issued by the Vanderbijlpark South African Police Service (SAPS). It is alleged that a white Mazda Etude was reported stolen from a parking lot area at a company in Vanderbijlpark earlier that evening.
The Fezile Dabi District Highway Patrol team, Relief D, received the alert and successfully traced the vehicle. The stolen car was spotted traveling on the N1 near the Rooiwal offramp, heading in the direction of Kroonstad.
Patrol officers intercepted and pulled over the vehicle. The two male occupants were subsequently taken into custody without incident.
The pair now faces formal charges of possession of a suspected stolen motor vehicle. Their court date will be set by the Koppies Magistrate’s Court.
